High Power Amplifiers
Power amplifier design is one of the areas in which Telecom Technologies
has extensive experience. Our experience includes work across a wide range of
frequencies from UHF to Qu-band (18 GHz).
Power amplifier design services includes the design of gain
modules with an average output power of a few tens of watts. Such
subsystems find many applications in the cellular industry. The
peak powers of these modules can reach up to 500 Watts and
they find wide applications in feedforward amplifiers (See
Linear Power Amplifiers for more details). The frequency ranges covered
are cellular (800 – 900 MHz); PCS, DCS1800 and the UMTS
band (2110-2170 MHz)
Telecom Technologies offers design services for hand set
applications or medium power amplifier ranges for pico-cell
and repeater systems.
High Efficiency Power Amplifiers
Power amplifier efficiency is a major concern in most practical
applications. Cellular applications are a typical example
where amplifier efficiency is of interest: handset efficiency
is important in order to prolong the battery life and reduce
recharge frequency. In base station applications, the Power
Amplifier efficiency
has a direct impact on the unit's size, necessary cooling equipment, and running costs. Several techniques are available
to enhance amplifier techniques. Load-line modulation (Doherty
and envelope tracking) and high efficiency amplification modes
(class E and F) are amongst the techniques with which the
company has extensive experience.
